The India based supplier announced the platform on 28 July 2026. It is designed for engineers, procurement teams, safety managers, security consultants, system integrators and facility managers working across industrial safety, security and automation.
Users can search products with plain language, compare specifications, identify compatible alternatives, upload a request for quotation or specification sheet and receive recommendations. KT Automation says the platform uses a machine readable industrial knowledge base rather than relying only on public website content.
The central development is the conversion of three decades of operational knowledge into structured procurement infrastructure. The knowledge base includes product attributes, certifications, use cases and compatibility information collected through installations, returns and customer enquiries. The platform is live now.
5,000 products show the value of structured domain knowledge
KT Automation’s catalogue spans access control, detection systems, road safety products, warehouse safety and factory automation. The launch is a good example of how a specialist distributor can turn proprietary operational knowledge into the foundation for an AI product.
Commercial usage is still to be proven: the company has not shared user numbers, conversion figures, pricing or time savings, so its claims about faster product selection are, for now, product expectations rather than measured outcomes. General AI models can explain common products well, but they are less likely to know whether two components are compatible, which certification applies in a specific plant, or why an item keeps failing in a particular installation, which is exactly where a specialist knowledge base like this can add value.
A quick side note
This launch is a nice illustration of an opening available to any industrial distributor, engineering consultancy or specialist manufacturer sitting on years of application data, technical support history and substitution know-how that never makes it into a public catalogue. Turning that into a structured, queryable format for one high-friction product category looks like a promising, low-drama way to add value for customers. As with most new data products, the main thing worth keeping an eye on over time is simply keeping the information current as products and certifications change, which is more a matter of ongoing upkeep than a fundamental hurdle.
